Prometheus Was An Unlucky Solopreneur.
In the myth, Prometheus steals fire from the gods and gives it to humans.
Fire lets humans cook. Warm their homes. Build tools, weapons, machines.
Above everything, it moves humans from beasts to thinking beings.
For that act, the Gods punish Prometheus for eternity.
For many, this is a story about hubris and sacrifice.
To me, itâs a dark psy ops. Itâs a behavioral training: Steal fire and you will suffer.
The punishment is brutal, eternal, and unforgettable. Thatâs not by accident.
Hereâs a conditioning experiment from the 1970s to think:
Cold Water & Bananas
In the 1970s, there was this famous experiment with monkeys.
Hungry monkeys were placed in a room with bananas inside a cage.
Whenever the vage opened, some monkey would approach the bananas.
But then, the entire group was sprayed with cold water.
After a few attempts, no one tried to approach the cage.
Sounds logical. But then, something interesting happened.
The researchers added new monkeys they hadnât sprayed.
When a new monkey tried to approach the cage, the others attacked it.
There was no water involved.
The punishment system was already in motion from the other monkeys.
The researchers replaced some of the monkeys with new, hungry monkeys.
After a few steps, none of the monkeys in the room had ever been sprayed with water.
Yet none would go for the bananas.
No Gods or researchers needed to intervene anymore.
The story was enough.
.
Prometheus As A Conditioning Story
The Prometheus story works like that.
You donât need Zeus anymore. You donât need chains, eagles, or a demi-godâs liver.
You only need the story that crossing some lines leads to unbearable consequences.
Over time, people donât even question where the fear came from. They just feel the story.
âDonât go too far.â
âDonât challenge the system.â
âDonât steal fire.â
So progress has to be safe first. Approved.
.
Why This Is Dangerous for Solopreneurs
Solopreneurs live or die by fire.
Modern fire is leverage:
Code
Better systems,
products, and services
The problem is that most of these look like âstealingâ from the outside.
They break expectations. They bypass the traditional ladder. They ignore permission.
So the old conditioning kicks in. People donât fail because tools are unavailable.
They fail because they wonât touch the banana.
They wait. They ask.
They optimize tiny steps. They collect hacks, info, and courses.
They stay safe.
Not because someone is stopping them.
But because the story already does its job.
.
The Truth
Stories teach behavior.
For solopreneurs, the lesson isnât âbe Prometheus and accept suffering.â
Thatâs still operating inside the monkeysâ cage.
The real lesson is simpler and more uncomfortable:
Prometheus was an unlucky solopreneur.
The only guard of fire left is fear.
Other solopreneurs take fire today every single day.
Without asking. Without waiting. Only by solving the right problems.
And the moment you realize that, the story loses its power.
