PS L: How To Guard Your Time.
When everyone and everything try to claim it.
How To Guard Your Time.
āGot a minute?ā
āThis will only take an hour or so.ā
āItās ok, Iām not in a rush.ā
We donāt lose time because weāre dumb or unlucky.
We lose time because we donāt know how to defend it.
Losing time is a skill issue.
Our own selves, small tasks, and anyone else can steal our day (even with good intentions).
.
Time Protection Is Proof Of Discipline
Every day there are millions of reasons to numb your senses with cheap dopamine.
Funny cat GIFs, videos, snacks, ideas, thoughts, stories, posts, feelings to keep your brain busy.
The problem starts when all of them claim your whole day.
Time is an investment.
Time is the only resource you never get back.
Here are some simple, practical moves that work:
.
The Moves
-
Learn To Say āNoā Without Guilt
What ā Cut anything that doesnāt align with your highest priorities or current needs. This can be as simple as a walk or a nap.
How ā Know what matters. Anything outside that box gets a NO, even from yourself, to yourself.
-
Eat The Frog First
What ā Do the toughest, highest-impact task first.
How ā Most of times you know your āfrogā but skip it with unnecessary tasks that feel important. They arenāt. Never confuse motion with action.
-
Define A āSacred Time Blockā
What ā Find a time block for your high-leverage work.
How ā When are you least reachable by others? First thing in the morning? Last thing at night? Both work great. Be strict with this.
-
Filter Notifications
What ā Silence all distractions from devices.
How ā DND mode can be your best productivity buddy.
-
Use Timeboxing & Parkinsonās Law
What ā Give each task a fixed time limit.
How ā Use Parkinsonās Law mentality to shorten, challenge, and gamify your work.
-
Set Boundaries
What ā Make your time valuable. If itās worth for your life it should be worth something to others too.
How ā Set boundaries in every given chance.
-
Batch Tasks
What ā Group tasks into slots so they donāt interrupt different mode tasks. You canāt be productive, creative, or mechanical at the same time. You canāt reply emails at your highest-leverage time.
How ā Pick a regular time per batch and outside that ignore unless emergency.
-
Audit Yourself Often
What ā You canāt improve what you donāt realize. Check on what you actually spend time on vs what you intended.
How ā Identify leaks and fix weekly.
.
This Is Worth Your Time
All of the above helped me work better as a student, in the army, in my 9-to-5 jobs, and as a solopreneur.
When you do all these, you escape from wasted hours and wasted energy.
You regain time for what matters.
Guard your time.
Itās the ultimate self-respect and self-love action.
Lifeward,
